Valparai
Valparai hill station is positioned above 3500 feet height from the sea level on the Anamalai mountain range of the Western Ghats. It is situated at a distance of 64 km from Pollachi and 102 km from Coimbatore. It is surrounded by The Anamalai Tiger Reserve (Indira Gandhi Sanctuary) in the Western Ghats south of the Palghat Gap. A treasure house of beautiful lakes, waterfalls, dams, and reservoirs, Valparai is also known for the renowned Chalakudy River. Many animals like tiger, leopard, lion-tailed macaque, common langur, Malabar giant squirrel, elephant, gaur, spotted deer, sambar, barking deer and wild boar can be spotted here. The serene Sholayar Dam is located 24 km away from the main town has a huge reservoir set amidst several tea and coffee estates.
Aliyar
The sturdy pillar of Irrigation for Pollachi and nearby places is this aesthetically built 1959’s Aliyar Dam. On an avant-garde travel to Valparai, comes in between the Dam with a well maintained park at its base. The scenery is spectacular, with mountains surrounding three quarters of the Reservoir. Many attractive and awesome attractions are there such as: a park, garden, aquarium, play area and a mini Theme-Park, which is maintained by Tamil Nadu Fisheries Corporation. ‘Temple of Consciousness’ is also stationed near Aliyar dam entrance at Arutperunjothi Nagar, which is the residential spot of Vethathiri Maharishi. People can also enjoy boating with friends and family. Monkey falls is located at 6 Km from the Dam. A treetop house in the forest, furnishes accommodation for the visitors who are into adventure.
Isha
Isha Yoga center is known for the ‘world’s largest best sculpture’- The face of Adiyogi. It was dedicated to the Nation by our Honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 24 Feb 2017. Built on the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountain’s, this Ashram lies adjacent to the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Isha Foundation offers yoga programs for inner transformation & personal growth. Kovai Kutralam
Located on the Western Ghats and at a distance of 35 km from Coimbatore, Kovai Kutralam will enthrall one and all by its heavenly beauty. Managed by the State Forest Department, one need to get permission in advance to visit and enjoy here. Beyond the check post, vehicles will not be allowed. Visitors transport to the spot will be taken care of by the Forest Department. People who love trekking can give a try. Plastics are a definitely no in this spot. Even eatables are not allowed. This globally bio-diversity hot spot is also another favorite vacation place for thousands.
