With having spread of over of 61 acres this lake is connected with Narasampathy in the upstream. In the downstream it is connected to Selvampathy, Kumarasamy, Selvachinthamani, Periyakulam, Valankulam and Singanallur lake eventually joining into the noyyal river on the south of the city.

By having completely built-up catchment area, with pockets of developed area, vegetal cover and of open land. The catchment area of the lake is about 6.80 sq km and is connected with Narasampathy, Krishnampathy, Kumarasamy, Selvampathy, Selvachinthamani and Periyakulum in the upstream.

Kuruchi lake is one of the largest water body lying towards the southern zone of Coimbatore city taken up by corporation under Smart City Projects. Kurichi lake is spread over an area of 334.92 acres and it is connected with the lakes like Viz, Sottayandi kuttai tank, Ganganarayana Samudram tank, Perur Big tank, Kunniamuthur sengulam tank and Kunniamuthur small tank and in the downstream it is connected to Noyyal river. This lake comes under southern catchment lakes.
